ARTIST STATEMENT
I make work through acts of coming upon—dreamlike, unfamiliar places where memory, identity, and landscape begin to overlap. Drawn to what is found, overlooked, or rediscovered, I question our impulse to define and possess, inviting attention instead of possession and relationship instead of authorship. Rather than representing what is found, the work remains as a trace of the experience itself. My work invites moments of quiet discovery, asking how place can hold memory and how memory, in turn, reshapes place.
BIO
I was born in Guadalajara, MX but call Houston, TX the city I grew up in. With a couple of stints in New York, I now call Austin, TX home. Trained in both film and architecture, I hold a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film and a Master's degree in Architecture. As a practicing architect and artist, I move between storytelling and spatial thinking, creating work that exists somewhere between attention and imagination.
